Understanding Episodic Disabilities
A Self-Directed Online Course for Human Resources Professionals
Everyone knows someone living with an episodic disability (conditions such as mental illness, arthritis, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, lupus, MS and some forms of cancer). How many people are there where you work?
Understanding Episodic Disabilities is an online course for Human Resources (HR) professionals that will deepen your understanding of the impact of episodic disabilities on the workplace. This self-directed course explains the episodic nature of many disabilities that you as an HR specialist encounter with staff.
Understanding Episodic Disabilities introduces:
- What an episodic disability is
- How to support current staff challenges and
- Ways to enhance productivity, reduce absenteeism, develop effective organizational policies and foster a positive organizational culture
Brought to you by Canadian Working Group on HIV and Rehabilitation (CWGHR), this 15-hour, self-directed course will help you understand the impact of an episodic disability on:
- Workplace participation
- Earnings and disability income support
- Accommodation strategies
You’ll also learn about relevant legislation and assessing your workplace for:
- Awareness and leadership
- Planning and sourcing
- Selection and hiring
- Staff development and
- Creating an inclusive environment
Once registered, you will have access to the course material for 10 weeks. The completed course is worth 22.5 Recertification Points through the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario (HRPA), 15 Recertification Points through the Human Resources Management Association (HRMA) [formerly the BC Human Resources Management Association], the Human Resources Institute of Alberta (HRIA), the Human Resource Management Association of Manitoba (HRMAM) and the Human Resources Association of New Brunswick (HRANB).
